SHAX

Websites for charities in Dumfries and Galloway

SHAX is a Dumfries charity supporting families facing poverty and homelessness. Website help is one of the services we offer to charities like ours across Dumfries and Galloway — so your team can stay focused on people, not IT.

Charity first. Website support as one part of that mission.

SHAX supports families facing poverty and homelessness in Dumfries and Galloway — through our charity shop, community work, and practical help. We live the same pressures as the charities we support: tight budgets, busy volunteers, and boards who need plain answers.

Website design, hosting, and an easy admin area are one of the ways we help other charities. You are not hiring an agency; you are working with a peer organisation that already does this work for our own mission, and can do the same for yours. You keep ownership of the site.

How we help

What a good charity website does in D&G

A clear site helps people find you, trust you, and take the next step — donate, book, volunteer, or get support — without adding work for already-busy teams.

  • Trust at first glance Plain language, contact details that are easy to find, and a look that matches your mission.
  • Action when it matters Donations, workshop bookings, referrals, and volunteer sign-up — shaped around how you actually work.
  • Updates without drama Staff photos, appeals, and news change through a simple admin area. We handle hosting and the technical side.

How much does a website cost?
WordPress themes are £150. Custom websites start at £300. Team tools start from £200. Hosting, domain, and email is £50 a month.
How long does it take?
Themes are typically live within days once we have your logo, colours, and copy. Custom sites take a little longer because they are built around your charity. We aim for weeks, not months.

Dumfries and Galloway is home, and where many relationships begin. We also work with charities elsewhere in the UK when a call and email is enough.
Who owns the website?
You do. We can build, host, and look after it, but it belongs to your organisation.
Where are you based?
Merrick House, The Crichton, Bankend Road, Dumfries DG1 4TA. Telephone 01387 245358. Email websites@shax.org.uk.

A short conversation is enough to start

Tell us who you help and what the site must do. We will suggest a theme, a managed site, or a small team tool if that fits — as a charity helping charities, with a clear written next step.
