Who we are

This website, website.shax.org.uk, is operated by SHAX, a registered Scottish charity based in Dumfries (charity number SC042940). We provide websites, WordPress themes, hosting and digital tools for charities and non-profits.

How this website uses storage

We do not currently use analytics or marketing cookies. The site uses local storage and session storage in your browser to provide features you request and remember your choices. Although these technologies are not traditional cookies, we explain them here because they store information on your device.

Storage used by SHAX

• Cookie choice — necessary: stores whether you selected necessary storage only or allowed optional analytics. This remains in your browser until you change your choice, clear your browser data or we update the consent system.
• Chatbot prompt — necessary: remembers that the SHAX helper has already invited you to chat, so it does not repeatedly interrupt you. This remains until you clear this website's stored data.
• Chatbot journey — necessary: temporarily remembers where you were in the chatbot when you follow a link to another page.
• Enquiry handover — necessary: temporarily carries details you choose to enter in the chatbot to the contact form, so you do not have to type them twice. These details remain in the current browser session and are not sent to SHAX unless you submit the form or chatbot enquiry.
• Branding preview — necessary: temporarily remembers the colours, fonts, wording and panel layout you select in the interactive branding preview.

Session storage is normally removed when you close the browser tab or window. These items are not used to follow you across other websites.

Analytics and marketing

SHAX has not installed an analytics or advertising provider on this site. Selecting analytics in the cookie settings does not currently cause any analytics data to be collected. If we add analytics in future, it will be blocked unless you actively allow it, and this policy will be updated to identify the provider, purpose and retention period.

Third-party services

The site requests its Sora and Source Sans 3 typefaces from Google Fonts. When your browser loads those fonts, technical information such as your IP address and browser details may be sent to Google. Google Fonts does not set cookies through this site.

Our Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, WhatsApp and shax.org.uk links only connect you to those services when you choose to click them. Their own privacy and cookie policies then apply. Theme previews and portfolio images are hosted directly on this website rather than embedded from a video platform.

Your choices

Necessary storage is used to provide the site features described above. Optional storage requires your consent. You can use the Cookie settings button in the footer at any time to review or change your choice.

You can also remove stored information through your browser's privacy or site-data settings. Blocking all browser storage may prevent the chatbot, contact-form handover and branding preview from remembering your choices.
